Four claims from one week, and the documents that would settle them

An alien autopsy frame, a Meta letter nobody has published, a truncated Ramdev quote and a Google-sourced insult, sorted by what is actually on the record

Four things I saved in the last week of July 2026 have exactly one thing in common: each one asks you to accept a claim whose supporting document is either absent, unpublished, or quietly edited before it reached you. That is not a grand theory about the information age, it is a filing problem. I keep a list of what I can actually check, and the list is short.

So here is the manifest. Two sections, the documents that exist and the documents that do not. My read sits attached to each item rather than up front, because the items are the argument.

On the record

  • Two video frames posted by @JonStewartIL(2082328192686141452), captioned "It spreads its fingers!! Folks this is real…. Sorry". The account belongs to an Illinois businessman and repeat candidate, not the comedian, and he has spent years promoting the 1997 Area 51: The Alien Interview tape as authentic. An earlier video post of his drew a Community Note saying the imagery does not appear in the released DoD archives at war.gov/ufo. Both frames carry burned-in digital timecodes with different dates(/28 02:51:02 and 25 0?:48:12), so the clip is a compilation of at least two reels.
  • The Metabunk analysis thread on the "Skinny Bob" clip set, uploaded to YouTube by the channel ivan0135 in April and May 2011 and presented as leaked KGB material. Analysts there identified the timecode typeface as Microsoft Consolas, a Luc(as) de Groot design released in November 2006 and shipped with Vista and Office 2007. They also tracked the film-damage layers to stock overlays and the Boris FX Sapphire plug-in, and showed the timecode fails to track with frame shifts, meaning the stamp was composited after the fact. If the bookmarked frames come from that set, and the two-reel structure with autopsy plus profile shots matches it closely, the imagery is provably post-2006 no matter who made it.
  • The Santilli lineage, documented across thirty years. Ray Santilli's "alien autopsy" aired on Fox in 1995 to roughly 11.7 million US viewers; sculptor John Humphreys, ex-Doctor Who effects, built the dummies over about three weeks in a Camden flat using sheep brains in raspberry jam and butcher's knuckle joints, and appeared in the footage as the chief examiner. Santilli conceded in 2006 it was a "reconstruction"; director Spyros Melaris confessed in fuller detail from 2017. A three-part documentary, The Alien Autopsy Scandal, aired on Sky Documentaries on 12th June, 2026.
  • The war.gov/ufo tranches(8th May and 22nd May, 2026), released under a February 2026 Trump directive: 162 files in the first batch, 120 PDFs, 28 videos, 14 images, mostly DoD with FBI, NASA and State Department material. Reporting and fact-check teams agree there is no confirmation of extraterrestrial life or bodies in it and that much of it recycles already-public material. A separate 22-minute NARA reel, The Roswell Incident(341.ROSWELL), was mined for a "body in the crater" that frame forensics identified as a camera filming a photograph in a book.
  • Meta's letter to India's IT ministry(Wednesday, 29th July, 2026), reported by PTI and carried by The Tribune and Daily Excelsior. It outlines "enhanced and rigorous safeguards" already in place for content posted by the Prime Minister and other prominent accounts, with checks at senior-official level. The bookmark I saved, from @MeghUpdates, renders this as Modi bringing Meta to its knees and extends the coverage to the President, the Home Minister and the Indian Armed Forces. Those four categories appear in no credible outlet I could find. The sourced wording is "the Prime Minister and other prominent accounts."
  • Meta's own cross-check documentation, on its transparency site, describing Early Response Secondary Review for selected high-profile entities and General Secondary Review, where listed accounts' content stays up pending human review. The Oversight Board's policy advisory opinion found cross-check produces unequal treatment, is structured around business risk, lacks transparent criteria, and that Meta had not tracked whether it improved accuracy. Journalists and human-rights defenders, the people most exposed to over-enforcement, were least likely to be listed. What is being sold as a diplomatic defeat for Meta is Meta putting an old privilege programme in writing for one government.
  • The removal notice users actually saw on 28th July, 2026. Modi's 23rd July selfie video to Gen Z, promising fast-track courts and legislation against paper leaks, became inaccessible on Facebook in India, with a notice saying content was withheld following a legal request. Meta said it was removed in error and restored. Meta has not explained publicly why a legal-compliance notice appeared for what it calls a mistake. MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan called removal from a verified account "extremely disturbing… should have never happened", the ministry emailed a summons to Joel Kaplan, and the parliamentary standing committee under Nishikant Dubey summoned Meta, X, Google and Snapchat for 3rd August at 4 pm.
  • The Hindu's April 2026 report, sourced to a company insider, that India joined a limited set of countries where Facebook and Instagram automatically restrict flagged content at scale on local-law grounds, with content not restored even where Meta later judges the request improper. Read alongside the IT Amendment Rules 2026(G.S.R. 120(E), notified 10th February, in force 20th February) and the Karnataka High Court's September 2025 ruling upholding the Sahyog portal in X Corp v. Union of India, the picture is plain. A pipeline engineered for instant compliance and minimal human review caught the man it was built for. The fix under negotiation protects him and not the protest creator whose reel was geo-blocked the same fortnight.
  • Ramdev's Haridwar presser(29th July, 2026), filed by ANI. He said the country will not run through streets but through Parliament, and that who will be Education Minister will be decided by "PM and Parliament of the country". The post I bookmarked from @IndianGems_ drops "and Parliament", which converts a loose constitutional statement into a pure executive-authority one. The label the poster attached, "Businessman", is substantively fair and technically wrong: Ramdev holds no shares in Patanjali Ayurved, Acharya Balkrishna holds roughly 94 to 98.6 percent.
  • In Re: Ramlila Maidan Incident(Supreme Court, 2012), arising from the midnight police action of 4th and 5th June, 2011 against sleeping supporters at Ramdev's own anti-black-money agitation. The Court called the police conduct tyrannical and arbitrary while also faulting the organisers. That judgment exists because Ramdev took a grievance to the street and the state beat people for it. LiveLaw has published a direct comparison of judicial approaches in 2011 and in the 2026 crackdown. He is now telling students the street is illegitimate.
  • The 2026 protest record itself, which refutes the streets-versus-Parliament binary on its own dates. NEET-UG papers of 3rd and 7th May cancelled by NTA, CBI probe, re-exam on 21st June with over two million candidates, results on 16th July. Jantar Mantar protests by the Cockroach Janta Party, founded 16th May, 2026 by Abhijeet Dipke and unregistered with the ECI, running to 25th July with AISF, AISA and SFI. Lathi charge around 11:30 am on 20th July during the march to Parliament, tear gas through the afternoon; police denied pellet-gun use. Rahul Gandhi detained outside the PM's residence on 22nd July. Pradhan resigned on 25th July citing "anti-national forces"; Nadda announced accepted demands at the Constitution Club, including a one crore rupee ex-gratia for families of NEET-UG 2026 suicide victims. Streets, Parliament, courts and a negotiating table, all one process.
  • The Supreme Court hearings of 27th and 28th July, 2026. CJI Surya Kant said peaceful protest is a constitutional right and a lathi charge "can't be the answer", flagged the need for uniform national policing protocols, and the bench with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana indicated it may constitute a High-Powered Committee on the Delhi and Bihar violence. Justice Bagchi noted injury to a policeman or a student is of equal concern.
  • Kangana Ranaut's Instagram Stories(28th and 29th July, 2026), relayed by @NewsAlgebraIND and carried by PTI copy in The Tribune. "I just googled this person and he is 28 years old. And he claims to be a student." Then: "At his age, I had won two National Awards", and Saurav Das is "totally useless and unemployed". Das is CJP's chief spokesperson, an independent RTI and investigative journalist with a BA in journalism from Amity Noida, who has written for Frontline, Al Jazeera, The Hindu and Article 14, and who began filing RTIs at 18. Aggregator bios give his date of birth as 28th January, 2000, which would make him 26, and those bios are low-grade so I will not treat the number as settled. What I can say is that no source shows him describing himself as a student, and that the bookmark spells his name "Sourav Das", which is the spelling of a Bengali actor born in 1989 who is 37. An MP citing a search result got a fact wrong about a man whose trade is document verification.
  • ThePrint's Lok Sabha report card on BJP MPs(August 2025): Ranaut at 79 percent attendance, 73 questions, 9 debates, behind fellow celebrity MP Arun Govil at 92 percent, 81 questions, 13 debates. Live figures sit on her PRS MP Track page. Her two National Awards are real, Fashion at 22 and Queen at the 62nd National Film Awards, four in total plus a Padma Shri in 2020. The boast holds. It is aimed at the wrong age, at a person who never entered that contest, on behalf of a movement whose own slogan is "Voice of the Lazy & Unemployed" and whose name is a reclaimed insult from the CJI's May remark about cockroaches and parasites. Calling the spokesperson useless and unemployed lands inside the joke.
  • The labour data nobody in the fight cited. PLFS monthly for June 2026 puts 15 to 29 unemployment at 16.2 percent against 5.5 percent overall, highest among the secondary-educated and above. Indians aged 18 to 40 are around 40 percent of the population and hold roughly 10 percent of Lok Sabha seats, and the cabinet average age is above 60. That is the material argument, and both the aesthetics attack from Ranaut and the guilt-by-association attack from Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who circulated an old Das post praising Umar Khalid, route around it.

Missing

  • The frame hash of the bookmarked video matched against archived copies of the Santilli autopsy, the Victor Alien Interview tape, and the ivan0135 re-uploads. Anyone with ffmpeg and archive.org can produce this in an afternoon, and it would name the source reel.
  • A zoomed glyph comparison of the two timecodes against Consolas, checking the slashed zero and whether the scratches pass over the digits. @JonStewartIL has the file at full resolution and could publish it.
  • @JonStewartIL's chain of custody for the clip: who gave it to him, in what format, when. He has never posted one for the 1991-dated tape either.
  • The full text of Meta's 29th July letter. MeitY has it, Meta wrote it, neither has published it, and until one of them does, the four-category claim in the bookmark has nothing behind it.
  • Meta's list of Indian "prominent accounts" covered by secondary review, and the count of ordinary protest posts removed in the same fortnight that have been restored. Both are internal numbers Meta already holds.
  • Meta's explanation of why a legal-request notice rendered for a removal it calls an error. That is a log entry, not an opinion.
  • A written FIR-withdrawal order for the CJP protesters. Nadda announced acceptance on 25th July; by 29th July Saurav Das was demanding written assurance and Dipke, outside Delhi airport, said the government "should be ashamed" and warned of a fresh nationwide agitation.
  • CJP's five-point exam-reform charter as an actual document, not a summary in wire copy.
  • A news-sourced injury count for the 20th July lathi charge. The figure circulating, 118, comes from Wikidata.
  • Saurav Das's date of birth from a first-party source: his own bio, a byline page, a grantee listing. One line from him ends the "28 years old" claim permanently.
  • Any BJP statement on its MP calling a movement's spokesperson useless while the party courts young voters ahead of state polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat.

The pattern in the missing column is that every one of those artifacts is held by the party making the claim or the institution being praised for conceding. As such, the asymmetry is not accidental, it is what a claim looks like when the document would weaken it.

On the UFO frames I want to be careful in the direction the sceptics usually are not. The imagery in this lineage is demonstrably composited after 2006 and nobody has ever claimed authorship, which is exactly why it keeps recirculating; VFX professionals who examined the Skinny Bob set called the character work expensive and competent rather than throwaway. That is a professional-grade fake of unknown origin, not a solved case, and "it spreads its fingers" is the weakest possible argument for authenticity now that a 2026 model can generate the same micro-motion from a prompt. What the fakes do not settle is the larger question, and the body holding the primary record there has spent decades handing out anthropomorphic parachute dummies and Project Mogul balloon trains as final answers. Melaris needed a flat, a butcher and three weeks. The current version needs a text box. The cost of manufacturing a convincing body has collapsed to nearly zero, and the cost of getting a real document out of war.gov has NOT moved at all.

One artifact would clear more of this list than any other, and it is the cheapest of them: Meta publishing the 29th July letter in full. MeitY could publish it tomorrow, the parliamentary panel could table it on 3rd August, and Kaplan could hand it over when he answers the summons.
